Why our soccer practices are so effective:
PRACTICE SEQUENCE & DRILL DESIGN
Each practice plan follows the sequence of warm-up, technique, fitness, tactics and scrimmage.
The practices have a theme that follows throughout the session. The sequencing of drills is one of the key proprietary components of our program.
It has been researched, tested and proven to be extremely effective in optimum development of technique, physical strength and reading game situations, such as angles and distribution.
The key to this book is the comprehensive coverage of all goalkeeping elements. These elements are presented in game situations or exaggerated game situations to develop your goalkeepers skills and performance to the next level.
Warm-Up
Our warm-ups focus on developing flexibility and agility specific to goalkeepers. There are components to develop leg strength critical to improve vertical leaping ability and abdominal strength to improve recovery after saves. Diving, catching and recovery techniques are incorporated in low intensity settings.
Technique
Essential techniques like diving, catching and playing angles are covered in all degrees of difficulty and variety. This is so that the goalkeeper gets proficient in all game situations, under high intensity and stress and in unusual circumstances.
For example, quick change of direction followed by a reflex diving save are practiced to prepare the keeper for hectic goal area scrambles. Goalkeepers will get used to and will lose any fear of diving.
Fitness
Goalkeepers need to have the same speed and endurance as field players. In addition keepers need extraordinary leg strength for quick/high jumps and upper body strength for pressing through traffic without fear.
Our drills build that strength and at the same time apply it in intense goalkeeping situations
Tactics
Our tactical drills focus mainly on training the goalkeeper's roles and responsibilities in set plays, such as goal kicks, corner kicks, free kicks, etc. We have a proprietary method of dealing with penalty kicks, revealed here for the first time.
We emphasize drills to teach your goalkeeper how to organize team play from the back. The keeper is the only player with complete vision of the field and play and that knowledge must be used to help the team in it's overall game strategy and tactical execution.
Scrimmage
Our scrimmages are mostly exaggerated game situations featuring many shots from close distance. They teach goalkeepers to read the play quickly and adjust positions and angles at lightning speed. Reaction times and reflexes as well as quick recovery after shots are emphasized.
